May Mobility to Launch Autonomous Vehicles on Uber by Late 2025, Starting in Arlington, Texas

Autonomous vehicle startup May Mobility plans to roll out its self-driving cars on the Uber platform by the end of 2025, beginning with a launch in Arlington, Texas. The initiative marks the start of a multi-year partnership between the two companies, aimed at expanding autonomous ride-hailing services.

This collaboration allows May Mobility to move beyond its core focus of providing autonomous shuttles in campuses and controlled environments. For Uber, the partnership adds another self-driving technology provider to its growing roster, as it continues efforts to integrate autonomous vehicles into its platform.

Uber is already working with Waymo to offer robotaxi rides in cities like Phoenix and Austin, with a launch planned in Atlanta this summer. That upcoming rollout will put Uber in direct competition with Lyft and May Mobility, which recently revealed their own plans to bring autonomous ride-hailing to Atlanta in 2025.

In Arlington, Uber riders will be able to select a May Mobility vehicle — specifically, a hybrid Toyota Sienna Autono-MaaS model equipped with the startup’s autonomous driving system — when booking a trip. The initial launch will feature human safety operators behind the wheel, with a transition to fully driverless rides expected later.

Looking ahead, both companies plan to expand into additional U.S. markets in 2026 and scale operations to “thousands of AVs” over the next few years, according to May Mobility.

Currently, May Mobility operates on-demand autonomous microtransit services — essentially self-driving shuttles — in controlled, low-speed environments. Its technology has been tested in several cities across the U.S., including Arlington, Texas; Ann Arbor, Michigan; Grand Rapids, Minnesota; Peachtree Corners, Georgia; Miami, Florida; and Sun City, Arizona.
